Literature Resource Center: A database devoted to literary journals and literary criticism, this will be an excellent place to start any research in this field of study. Do take some time to look at the “Limit the current search” options, as this can direct you to more germane results and keep the number of matches from being outrageously high.

Literature Criticism Online: This database is a resource for all text essays of literary criticism. Here you will find a great place to find examples, get ideas and research areas of current concern in this discipline. While there, be sure to check out the Gale Author Index, a wonderful resource to find out the titles and dates of everything an author published, useful for many literary papers.

JSTOR: Journal articles from across many disciplines, though the dates of access are not the most up-to-date (for that, see Project Muse, below). Do note that this database does not have a “Literary Criticism” field, so you will be required to use the "advanced search" functions in this database.

Project Muse: A collection of recent journals, this database has a wide variety of information available in it. Note that you will want to use the "advanced" search functions or else wind up with thousands of matches to a search for "literary criticism." This database is much like JSTOR in that it has a large number of journals covering many disciplines. With a bit of effort, though, Project Muse will be quite useful.

Credo Reference: A good resource for general reference; however, be sure to use the "advanced" search settings to find information that you want. Credo's searches cast a wide net over a number of resource types from encyclopedias to articles. Be prepared to spend some time on this database, but plenty of good information can be found here.
